The Man Behind The Classic Southern Gospel Song

Today’s guest artist on Gospel Music USA, Ronnie Hinson – Ronny Hinson sang bass with his family group, the Hinsons, from 1967 to 1988. Hinson has also written many successful Southern Gospel songs over the years including most notably, his classic “The Lighthouse” which won a Dove Award for Song Of The Year and a Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Song in 1972. Another song written by Ronny, “He Pilots My Ship,” won a Singing News Fan Award for Favorite Song the following year as well. Hinson launched a solo career after The Hinsons disbanded in 1988. He had sung bass in the group, but his solo material is pitched in the baritone range. He has also engaged in evangelistic work. When our eyes are opened, and we become alive in Christ – how do we begin witnessing to others? Dr. Charles Stanley offers some perspective on the work of the Holy Spirit.
